Which Banks Give You Money for Opening an Account?

Receiving a bonus when opening a new account with a bank is always a huge plus. It’s essentially free money, so why wouldn’t you try to find a bank with the best deal available for opening an account?

Yes, there are other factors tied to a person’s decision to open a fresh bank account, but it’s nearly impossible for anyone to ignore the benefit of getting a bonus strictly for opening an account. With this in mind, we’re going to highlight a few banks based in the United States that offer money for opening a new checking or savings account.

Be sure to check out each of these banks yourself and see which one best suits you. Regardless of your decision on which bank you decide to go with, let’s get started!

Chase Bank

JPMorgan Chase Bank is the largest bank in the United States and rightfully so. Since forming in 2000 after being previously known as the Bank of Manhattan, Chase Bank is currently offering a massive bonus for individuals who open a checking account with direct deposit.

The bonus is a staggering $300. However, the bonus isn’t available for people with a negative balance, current Chase customers, and people who recently closed their accounts. It’s important to note the checking account comes with a monthly $12 service fee. Either way, a $300 bonus is a nice plus.

HSBC

Similar to Chase Bank, HSBC is offering an even bigger bonus of $475 for anyone who opens a premier checking account. A premier checking account requires a minimum of $5,000 in it for three full months until the bonus can be obtained.

The bonus itself is then given to the recipient over 12 months. However, this is only an option if direct deposit is set-up as well.

M&T Bank

Currently, M&T Bank is offering a $250 bonus for a checking account, and $100 for a savings account with them. The checking account only requires a direct deposit of $500 within 90 days of the account opening. Meanwhile, the savings account requires a monthly balance of at least $5,000 or more.

Wells Fargo

If you can open a checking account with Wells Fargo before specific dates, you have a good chance of receiving a $400 bonus. The rules for receiving the bonus involve an online account set-up for the checking account, no previous Wells Fargo accounts over the last 12 months, and a direct deposit of $4,000 or more within 90 days.

Citizens Bank

Citizens Bank is offering a straightforward promotion to earn $300 from a checking account with them. The bonus requires a new personal checking account and a direct deposit of $500 or more within 60 days.

TD Bank

Finally, TD Bank is offering two different bonuses for two separate account set-ups. For a $300 bonus, all you have to do is open a new TD beyond checking account and have a direct deposit of at least $2,500 within 60 days. If that’s a bit out of your range, the convenience checking out promotion from them only requires a direct deposit of $500 within 60 days for a $150 bonus.
