Getting a new credit card is always a big decision. Once you’ve taken this step, it’s important to know how your card works to make the use of it faster and more efficiently.

With a new card, it’s very useful to know how to manage your card online. While it is relatively easy, every company has its little tricks and it can sometimes be confusing. Today we will focus on the Walmart Credit Card.

On this article, we will teach you how to activate, login, and pay your card. This can be useful for you in case this is your first credit card or for a relative who is finding it difficult to get started.

About the Walmart Credit Card

Walmart offers its Mastercard credit card through Synchrony Bank and Capital One. The Walmart Credit Card provides many benefits and advantages to customers who shop at Walmart stores and the Walmart.com ecommerce site.

The first benefit of the Synchrony Bank Walmart card is a sign-up promotion for new cardholders. After signing up and spending $75 on the day you opened the account, you will receive a $25 bonus. If you signed up online, you must make the purchases online in order to receive the bonus.

Another benefit, and likely the most significant and most useful, is the cashback. This card gives 3% cashback when you shop online at Walmart.com. If you buy gas at Walmart or Murphy USA you get 2% cashback. All other purchases, such as at Walmart and Sam’s Club locations, give you 1% cashback.

Both the signup bonus promo and the cashback will be paid to you in the form of statement credits on your account.

Further reasons to have a Walmart Credit Card include: free FICO score access, zero annual fee, and complete protection from fraudulent activity on your card.

For the Capital One Walmart card, you get 5% cashback at the Walmart.com website and 2% back at Walmart locations, restaurants, and travel. You also get 1% cashback on everything else.

There is no flat dollar sign-up bonus for the Capital One Card. Instead, you get 5% cashback instead of the normal 2% cashback on all Walmart in-store purchases for the first year.

Walmart Credit Card Login

To login, you will need to go to the Walmart Credit Card CreditLogin website and input the information that is requested. If you have a Capital One Walmart card, login here at walmart.com/creditlogin instead.

Type in the same User ID and Password that you chose when you activated the card. Click “Secure Login” which is the final step to logging in.

If you do not yet have a User ID, click “Register” and provide the details the next page asks of you.

If you have forgotten your username, select the “Find User ID” link. And if you have forgotten your password, select the “Reset Password” link.

After successfully logging in, you will be able to initiate several operations including making a payment, checking your balance, finding out your FICO score, viewing past billing statements, and managing additional cardholders.

Login Using the Walmart App

You can also login to your credit card account via the official Walmart mobile app on Apple and Android cellphones.

After downloading and installing, open the app and sign-in with your Walmart customer account (which differs from your credit card credentials).

Within the app, navigate to the upper-left menu. Scroll down and then select “Walmart Credit Card” under the Account heading. Enter the requested info and tap “Sign In” to continue.

Not all of the features of the website are available on the mobile app. However, you will still be able to do basic tasks such as viewing your activity and sending a payment.

How to Activate Your New Card

For Walmart Credit Card activation, you have two options: online and over the phone. Let’s see how they work.

For online activation, you’ll need to go to the credit card’s official website at walmart.com/creditlogin. Once you’re there, you’ll be asked to create an account, press the first time user option. Remember to keep this information handy for future use of the credit card website. Once you’re logged in, you will be required to input this information:

  • The 16 digits of the card
  • Your Zip Code
  • A 3-digit security code
  • Your social security number (the last 4 digits)

And that’s it. Once you submit this info, your card will be activated and ready to use.

The second option, via phone, is similar to the online process. You need to call 1-877-362-5952, a toll-free number. Once your call gets connected, press “1”, the option for general card inquiries. You will next be required to input your card number followed by the pound sign.

A customer representative will answer and ask for the following information:

  • Your name
  • Telephone number
  • Your card number

For the Capital One version of the credit card, instead call 1-800-227-4825. The representative will then go through a process to verify your identity. After this your card should be activated and ready for use.

How to Pay Your Walmart Credit Card Bill

For paying your bill, you have several options. You should choose the method that is the most convenient and that best suits your lifestyle. To avoid a late payment fee, you must pay by 5PM Eastern Time on your due date. You can choose between:

  • Online: Login on your account at Synchrony Bank or walmart.com/creditlogin (Capital One) and choose the payment option. It will take 2-3 business days to show up on your account. You can use ePayment or ACH from your bank’s checking account. You can also do this from the mobile app.
  • By phone: If you choose to pay over the phone using the automated feature, this service is free. If you request the assistance of a representative for expedited payment of your bill, there is a $10 fee. Call the toll-free number on the back of your card. This number will be either Walmart Credit Services (GE Capital) at 1-877-294-7880 or Synchrony at 1-866-611-1148 or Capital One at 1-800-227-4825.
  • By mail: Using the address provided on your monthly billing statement, mail a check or money order.
  • At the store: You can make your payment at a Walmart brick-and-mortar store. Head to the Customer Service desk at any Walmart. If you’re a member, you also can pay at any Sam’s Club location.

With this information, you’re now ready to activate, login, and pay the bill of your new Walmart card. As always, make sure to keep your information in a safe place and always login using the official website of the company.
